Customer Responsibility
When you order keys from Everything Locks, you assume full responsibility for the accuracy and authorization of the key code(s) you provide. This includes:
Ensuring the code belongs to you or your organization,
Confirming that you have the proper authorization to request duplicate keys,
And verifying that the key code is correct and corresponds to the key you intend to have duplicated.
By placing an order, you acknowledge that you are authorized to possess and request key duplication associated with the code submitted.
Legal Disclaimer on Key Duplication
Under U.S. law, most keys can be legally duplicated unless they are protected by a utility patent, design patent, or trademark restriction, or if they are part of a restricted key system. We restrict duplicating keys that are:
Protected by an active utility or design patent,
Part of a restricted keyway system,
And part of a system that we recognize as requiring authorized dealer verification.
If you have a restricted keying solution that permits third-party services, you must provide documentation to authorize said services. This may include:
An authorization letter from the manufacturer (i.e., Schlage).
An authorization letter on end-user company letterhead to where the system was sold.
When providing authorization on company letterhead, we reserve the right to cross reference signatures and verification information on file with the manufacturer to which the system belongs. We may also cross-reference verification with further communication to the signee (if different from the name on the authorization submission).
Our Role
Everything Locks does not verify ownership or authorization of the key codes submitted with an order if the system is not restricted. We cut keys exactly as requested and cannot be held responsible for any consequences resulting from:
Unauthorized duplication of keys,
Incorrect codes provided by the customer, and
Misuse of the keys once they leave our possession.
If we detect suspicious activity, such as unethical or unlawful order placement, we reserve the right to cancel the order and/or refuse future service at our discretion.
Important Note
All key orders are final. If a key does not work due to an incorrect code submitted during the ordering process, a new order must be placed with the correct information. If it is determined that we incorrectly cut your key(s), we are happy to send a few correctly cut keys free of charge. Please reach out if this is the case.
